They either time out right away
or they actually start and begin to update but time out before they get close to finishing. I think the farthest along they get is about 15%?
After retrying several times, moving the devices right next to the corridinator etc. the update disappears from HA and it indicates that they are at the latest version.
At this time HA does not show any updates available but after a period of time (not sure how long or if a reeboot is required) HA refreshes and the updates are once again showing they are available.
I have not been able to try and update using the ewelink app yet and would prefer if it could all be done in HA
FYI real quick: I just updated three SNZB-02D devices to 2.3.0 successfully.
Two using latest Home Assistant and a SMLight SLZB-06M updated to its latest radio (20250220) and ZB (v2.8.2.dev3) firmware in ZHA mode. The first one failed so I went super paranoid, put the sensor right next to the controller, and clicked the little senor wakeup button every few mins or so and then it worked. However I then updated a second one across the room after just clicking the button once. Both took about 20mins.
The third was updated using their Sonoff iHost gateway running its latest firmware “eWeLink CUBE Version v2.5.0”.
WHY?
I’ve had these suck battery pretty quickly (50% after a few months) so hoping this may improve. Main reason is actually that I installed HAOS fresh on a new x86 box and giving it another go after a few years of hiatus. Wanted all hardware to have some updated firmware before diving in.
Check the reporting frequency (minimum time between reports in particular), I had one in the bathroom with the attendant wild humidity swings which made it report every few seconds by default. Limiting that should help battery.
