I recently bought a smart zigbee thermostat that I would like to set up in HA, just to display the temperature in the room. I’m very new to HA and can’t figure out how to set it up in this way. I have looked into Generic Thermostat and also watched videos about it, but every solution requires a heating or cooling unit to function. I just want the simple solution to have it display the temperature using a “feeler”.

You should be able to look at the device properties under Settings → Devices and Services and then click Add to dashboard. It will suggest a card type to use.

While yes it does come up with a suggestion, another problem I have with the thermostat is that none of the thermostat properties acutally show up. I’ll add a screenshot
Odd. There should be a box above Configuration called Sensors. That’s where you would see the temperature so you could add it to the dashboard. Maybe that device just isn’t supported.
