Hue Down lights not completely OFF when OFF

Hello,

I’m new to HA and despite being very technically oriented this, is freaking mission. There are tones of little issues that are really hard to work through but here is the latest one.

This one is really puzzling me, I have a bunch of Zigbee Hue Downlights model #LCD006 and, when they are OFF they are NOT actually OFF… They still have a tiny little bit of visible light output in total darkness. I’m so confused. They all do this.
There are no configuration for these in ZHA and I don’t understand how this is possible. I have an Ikea light as well and that one actually turns OFF when I turn it OFF.

Any ideas? Has anyone seen anything like this?

Thank you for your help.

Nicolas.

This might be a software bug… Jesus, now I need to connect them to disconnect everything, connect them to a Hue bridge then redo my whole setup?

Please tell me that there is a way to OTA them through HA.

How are they connected? Z2M allows OTA for certain devices (many Hue included). Check here for your specific downlight.

edit: You can also check by going to the OTA tab in Z2M. If the device its there, it can be updated OTA.

Thanks.

I’m using ZHA. This sounds like overall it’s not a great idea though. It looks like Z2M is much more powerful. Would I need to rebuild everything if I wanted to switch?

I find that I could connect to the bulbs via BT with my phone and that allows me to update the bulb without disconnecting it from the network It’s hair tedious but I “only” need to do this for 13 lights.

They are stronger at different things. There are plenty of people on this forum who like/love ZHA. When I wrote that Z2M allows for OTA updates, I wasn’t saying that ZHA doesn’t - I simply don’t know about ZHA because I use Z2M.
