Hue for voice control

Apologies if this has already been described elsewhere; I couldn’t find it.

The issue is the following: I have an extensive Home-assistant setup and have been using emulated hue in the past to integrate with Google Home. As this is not working any longer I am looking into other ways of doing voice control. As I do not want to open up any ports to my home network the current Google Assistant route is a no-go for me.

I am now wondering; if I simply buy a real Hue hub (don’t have any Hue lights and also do not want them) can I then do voice control on all my home-assistant entities (lights and also other actuators) without opening up ports? With emulated hue that could be done in the past…

What makes you think you haven’t opened up your system already? Anything talking to Google is already opened up.

I meant to say open ports. I am fine with devices connecting to the internet (as I keep a pretty close eye on to what servers they connect and block everything out of the ordinary)
