I’m brand new to HA, just set it up recently. I have it linked to Amazon Alexa through home assistant cloud. These issues happen when I change scenes via Amazon routines activated by voice.
Whenever I activate a scene for my lights, I get a momentary flicker right as it activates. What appears to be happening is that the scene activation is sending multiple commands to the light in quick succession instead of just sending one “go to this state” command. It appears that it’s sending “Turn on” and then “change to this color”. This is most noticeable when changing from one brightness level and color to another.
For example, assuming I want to go from a 25% brightness purple scene to a 100% brightness soft white scene, It doesn’t get to full brightness white smoothly rather it flashes instantly to 100% then switches color also instantly. Like it’s ramping rapidly to full bright and then gets the command to go soft white.
*I had a similar issue in the past with my motion detected bathroom lights turning on rather instantly instead of smoothly. Since this routine was set in HA, it was easier to fix by setting the lights transition to 1 second.
I didn’t have these flicker problems when I had my hue lights connected to a hue bridge which was connected to a Smartthings hub then exposed to Alexa. It was a much smoother transition.
For information:
- The lights are Phillips Hue bulbs
- The lights are always powered
- The power is not on a dimmer switch, they are all either an always on regular switch or just plugged into a non-switched outlet.
- The bulbs are connected directly to HA via sonoff zigbee stick
Thanks in advance for any advice!
