A few years ago, I bought a massage chair for my partner at the time, who dealt with a lot of joint pains. A few years, some pandemic shenanigans, and a divorce later, I’m trying to figure out ways to get the most out of this thing. It’s completely ridiculous, but as I’ve gotten back into cycling over the past couple of years, it’s been super helpful.
My thought in connecting it to Home Assistant is to first get the status of the device, and then slowly try and find additional functionality.
So, there’s 2 ways to control this thing. There’s a remote attached to it that sucks, and there’s bluetooth… somewhere on it. They have this ‘Virtual Therapist’ thing that connects to Alexa. It’s actually pretty jank for a $10,000 massage chair. The whole thing runs off of a Raspberry Pi 0 W, and acts as a bridge from the chair to Alexa. Now, I’ve had a couple of these devices and made sure to dump the SD cards to an image as soon as I got them, but it’s been a year or so since I’ve dug through that. However, that’s probably where I should start reverse engineering.
The point of this post is literally to put it on the forum, just in case someone else has this chair and is searching for it. I will try to update this post as I work on this project, but I can’t guarantee that I will remember to, lol.
