Humidifier Question

I’ve never used the humidifier device type before and found the HACS device Switch Humidifier that lets you template one (since HA doesn’t allow humidifier templates). The extension doesn’t seem to be maintained any longer but it does work.

So, I now have a humidifier based on the value of my current humidity and a switch to control my floor humidifier. The question I have is if there is something in HA that limits it to 50% humidity or greater or if this is a problem with the HACS extension. If I set the device to 50+% then it will kick on, as soon as it is 49% or lower it kicks off (as in turns off the configured switch or turns it on).

I suspect it’s the HACS plugin but I don’t see anything in the fairly simple code that limits this. While it has a “default” of 50, that default is not used in any of the commands about setting the humidity so I wondered if perhaps this was just how humidifiers work in HA.

After some digging I found the Generic Hygrostat to be a much better solution to this issue overall than the add-on since it’s essentially a template humidifier (just not obviously named) but also provides better functionality and shows the current humidity in the card (which I was going to hack the HACS add-on to provide).
