HUSBZB-1 with Inovelli Dimmers = Poor Z-Wave Range?

I recently started the journey to move from my SmartThings system to Home Assistant (Linux VM on Windows) + Nortek HUSBZB-s. My Home Assistant machine is located in my finished basement. I have a number of different z-wave devices, but the most prevalent in the basement, first floor and second floor are my Inovelli LZW31-SN “Red Series” Dimmers, so I expect that they will be providing most of the Z-Wave signal expansion.

I am able to include my first two Inovelli dimmers and a non-Inovelli (GE Enbrighten Motion) switch into the HA network via ZWaveJS2MQTT. All of these are located in the basement, along with the HA machine. However, as I go up one flight to pair some additional Inovelli dimmers, I can’t seem to get them to connect. One of these dimmers is directly above my HA machine, but through the ceiling/floor, probably about 10 feet away.

What is the typical range of the HUSBZB-1? Should it be able to reach up to my third floor or even to the next floor or are my expectations too high? I’m debating whether I should look at a different USB stick or just connect HA to SmartThings for my ZWave devices, but I have heard nothing but good things about HUSBZB-1.

Thanks!
