I am unable to access my home assistant VM instance using the mobile app

I would appreciate all the help I can get towards resolving this.

I am a total newbie and it’s been less than 48h since I installed Home Assistant OS in a VM on my Linux computer (Nobara Linux 40). I was able to access the web interface through the web browsers in the host machine running the VM after identifying the ip address of the interface through the VM - 192.168.122.248.
Unfortunately, when I try that (192.168.122.248:8123) on the mobile app, a notification pops up on the screen - unable to connect to Home Assistant. There was an error loading Home Assistant. Please review the connection settings and try again. Error code: -8 Description: net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
By the way, the default scanning doesn’t identify the Home Assistant server.
Moreover, I cannot access HA through the second laptop still in the same WiFi network.

My setup:
WiFi router from my ISP
Mobile phone and laptops are connected to the Internet through the WiFi router, so they are all in the same home network.
While connected to this WiFi network, I have been able to use kdeconnect and GSConnect to share files between my mobile phone and my laptops, and can even control them by using my phone as a pointing device.

From what I have watched on YouTube, it’s supposed to be almost plug and play - install the app from the Playstore, launch it, connect it to HAOS. Mine isn’t the case.

Can you access the interface chrome for Android on the same device using the IP address? Or any other device? If not then that is the first issue to solve.

Scanning is not guaranteed to work, every user has a different network setup that’s why the option to enter the URL manually exists.

Thank you for the reply. I eventually figured it out and solved it by rebooting the router and reinstalling Home Assistant using VirtualBox instead of the Virtual Machine Manager I was using previously.

Unfortunately, I had to reinstall the OS on the laptop and I’m trying to set up Home Assistant and I’ve run into a different problem altogether. The enp0s interface wasn’t displaying an IPv4 address initially So, I was unable to access the web interface of HA. However, changing the network settings to NAT now has it showing an IP address but it is not the expected 196.168.x.x but a 10.0.2.15. I have followed the installation instructions closely, yet this is the result.

Unfortunately, I can’t post a picture. The button on the bottom right of the reply box isn’t launching the function.

Edit:
I think the Network Adapter is the issue here. If I choose Bridged, it is the wlp0s20f3 that shows up as default. This leads to HA launching without an IP address for the enp0s3 interface.

When I try the “network update” command with the enp0s3 ipv4 auto and ipv6 disabled and exit, it shows an address for the ipv6 but not for the ipv4

Why can’t I share a picture. Let me change browser.
