I am using a USB to serial convertor for the monoprice amp, is there a way to see the port name so I can configure it?

Thank you

If you are using Home Assistant OS or Home Assistant Supervised, go to Supervisor > System > Host System > Overflow Menu > Hardware. That will show you all the port names it understands. Your USB to serial converter will probably be listed as:
/dev/serial/by-id/your_converters_name_goes_here.

Thank you. I found it
/dev/serial/by-id/usb-FTDI_FT232R_USB_UART_A6029RQ1-if00-port0
So do I paste that entire line or just the last part?

Thank you

You’ve overlooked to explain what you are trying to do so I will assume you are trying to configure the Monoprice 6-zone Amplifier integration. I suggest you try pasting the entire string.

Sorry.
Yes I am trying to connect to the monoprice amo. It didnt give me any errors when I pasted it, but nothing appears in the lovelace interface. How can I test if its working?

Thank you

Does the Monoprice integration appear in Configuration > Integrations? It should indicate the number of devices and entities created by the integration.

You can also look in Developer Tools > States and search for media_player. If nothing related to your amp is displayed then something has gone wrong somewhere.

On the Raspberry PI I have it configured for ttyUSB0. The long string as you noted is listed below this when I check Hardware Settings under Host System in the Settings menu. You might want to remove the integration, restart Home Assistant, and read the integration. Make sure the amp in turned on and cable connected.
