I cannot seem to get my automations to trigger for emporia

I have an emporia vue, and we also have inverters for solar, I was trying to use the automation so that if the power consumption falls below say 5kW it kicks on but no matter which one I try it does not activate at all, it all works normally if I manually trigger it but never automatic.

I am also new to the home assistant so any help is appreciated.

this is what I have set for turning the battery inverter off I am not sure if I am missing anything, I have tried state, numeric state, and device as shown below.

Triggers need to cross a threshold in order for the automation to start.

In your 5kW case, it need to go from above 5kW to below 5kW to trigger. It’s explained clearly in the docs.

Right, but I have even tried setting it to 25 Watts my dryer should have triggered it when it was set to 5Kw, it looks like it’s reading watts so I did set it to 5000 and 25.

So would I use a numeric state trigger or a device trigger then?

So whatever I did, it worked Not sure what I did but setting the battery inverter toggle automation to turn on after usage exceeds 2.5Kw seems to trigger after turning on say a space heater, and the battery off automation works when setting it to 1.5Kw

going to mark this as the solution since it seems to be working perfectly now.
