I am guessing by all the information you’ve provided, that you’ve updated and now get an error.

I think it’s meant to be sarcastic humour. People are updating (possibly auto-updating, which is a terrible idea) and getting surprised by breaking changes then posting at length here.

The ESPHome editor flags most of them with decent explanations.

OK, confession time.

I did read the release notes, and missed the two breaking changes which would have bit me.

In my defense, it was just a first glance to get a heads-up. I’d look again before actually updating. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself.

Even so, those other threads reporting the “problem” caught my eye. I want to thank everyone who posted helpful answers to the OPs who either didn’t read, or didn’t fully understand, the release notes. We all make mistakes.

Oh, and, for the record, I got and appreciated the sarcasm when I saw the thread title.
