I need a new gate controller / actuator that reports status

So I have an old gate controller without sensors installed and since the unit is in bad conditions and needs to be replaced I’m wondering if there’s anything out there that integrates well with Home Assistant.

By integrating well I mean:

  • can open and close the gate remotely
  • reports to home assistant % of gate closed or at least if it’s closed or open
  • provides status of IR or proximity sensors
  • provides status if the gate becomes stuck or some other of malfunction (loss of power etc…)

Anything that fits the bill out there?

Probably, but I don’t know any.
For the first three requirements most of gate controllers can fill them with some Esphome device attached.
