And my second question, with my daughter’s phone I am getting this error, since very beginning, however I don’t see any duplicates, where should I look please?
Hello, everyone,
I upgraded iCloud3 today, it’s obvious that the iCloud login system has been redesigned (which is cool!). However, I can’t set my iPhone’s “iCloud3 identity ID” Note: Due to the iCloud login not working in the past days, I uninstalled the official HA iCloud integration, I can’t reinstall it - apparently the login system in this integration hasn’t been fixed yet… Could the problem with no iCloud3 identity ID be related to this? I think probably not - but where to get the “iCloud3 identity ID”? Did I miss something? Thanks for your advice!
@vaclavIII
That is the entity name you want to assign to the iCloud3 device tracker entry, not the Apple Acct entity you want to use as an Apple Acct data source. The Apple Acct data source is selected from the Selection list.
Thank you so much for your advice (I didn’t understand that I could choose my own “entity name” tracker, and I kept looking for an existing entity in HA … ), I made progress - but only after restarting HA - now I can see a lot of my iPhone’s sensors and I’m happy about it! Now I’m trying to initialise the Lovelace card with the help of your instructions, I’ve successfully completed point 5.1. But now I don’t know how to proceed: You write at the beginning of point 5.2 “Select ‘⋮’ (Upper right corner) > Edit Dashboard” - so I select the iCloud3 icon in the left vertical menu, in the upper right corner I select Edit, but now under ‘⋮’ I don’t see “Start with an empty dashboard”… Obviously I’m looking somewhere else. Could you please add one or two screenshots to point 5.2? I think I’ll catch on after that. Thank you very much for your patience with an amateur!
@vaclavIII
Go to HA Sidebar > Dashboard. You will see + Add Dashboard in the lower right. Click it and it will open a menu requesting further action. The HA Dashboard docs is where you want to look (google that).
@jainpankaj
Make sure the device_tracker & sensor names iCloud3 is using are the same as what HA is displaying and that HA has not added a _2 or _3 extension to the ones it is updating.
The Event Log will give you a lot more info on the Watch and it’s Tracking. Also display the Tracking monitors on Event Log > Action > Show Tracking Monitors.
iCloud3 treats a Watch no different than a iPhone or other device.
And make sure the watch is not asleep. If so, Apple does not provide any data or it is old.
So adding the Lovelace card was actually easy. I originally started with a custom user panel, and then logically I couldn’t find how to (according to your instructions) “Take panel control”… I have to read the manuals from the beginning :-). I’m studying your integration further - it’s great, thanks a lot!
@vaclavIII
HA has changed a lot of things since I wrote the iCloud3 docs and I have not updated them in a while. You should review the HA docs for creating up the Lovelace card. You can use the yaml sample to get you going. Now they have added’ sections’ and I have not had time to look at that yet.
Hi, Gary
Your great integration already works for me (including Lovelace card with tracked devices status ), now I want to proceed to use iCloud3 in automations. I found your automation examples here. I want to first create sensors like “I am home”, “Someone Home Status” etc. I am not proficient in writing programs, but I more or less understand your code examples. I just don’t know how to use your code: Let’s say I want to create a “Someone Home Status” sensor. If I create a “Template sensor” in the HA graphical editor, I don’t have the option to edit it in yaml (like when creating or editing automation), I can only select from the default menu for the Template sensor. Apparently you can’t write your example code directly to configuration.yaml: the developer tool/configuration.yaml syntax checker protests. Can you please advise me? Thank you very much in advance (and thanks for your patience with a beginner …)!
Hello, I have configured 2 child devices with their own Apple accounts (not using the family possibility), but one of the 2 is not showing the localisation (Alessio). He has the Mobile app on his device but not configured yet … if it is caused to this, I am wondering then why Icloud V3 is not able on his own to track the device ?
There no no _2
The name of the watch returned by iCloud and what I added as matches
It keeps saying no gps data returned. The iWatch can be seen in FindMe
@cedricdelecole
Is Location Sharing enabled for that phone?
Review the Event Log and see if there are any messages for that phone.
iCloud3 needs to restart after device changes. Was that iCloud3 device entity associated with the correct Apple account? See Event Log Startup Stage 3 & 4
@jainpankaj
iCloud3 reports the location sent from Apple. Check to make sure Location Sharing for it is enabled. With me wife’s watch, the location is always old or it is reported as offline if it has not been worn for a few hours or is charging or asleep.
Make sure it can be located on another device in FindMy.
Hello @gcobb321 , I have installed the event log on a dashboard, but it is showing the “working” device, the one from Inès. I can not change it towards the other “non localized” phone … the one of Alessio :
As I said earlier, the mobile app is also installed but not configured, but I expect Icloud V" to be able to localize the phone without the mobile app being configured.
but not sure what is not working here … nor where to check in the log
