Icons other than light bulbs, can others like switches show when they are on? as in turn yellow

With regards to lights that show states of on or off with a change of colour.

Can others devices that switch lights on and off also show a colour state when on?

Have a look at custom-ui.

I’ve successfully used it to do exactly what you’re after, on switches, devices present/absent and other stuff (changing both icon and colour depending on state).

In my case I added it as a custom repository in HACS. Worked fine.

yes. you have at least two another options:

  1. configure switches as lights (if possible)
  2. use state_color=true in lovelace card options
