Lots of people use home assistant mainly to have access to one control panel that can control all integrations in one place. Right now, the solution is to use an old ipad or android tablet, with a kiosk app, however that solution can often end up looking less professional or finished. Some users also use Tuya control panels, but the issue with them is that most can’t be rooted, and the ones that can often require disassembly/technical knowledge.
My idea for Nabu Casa/HA is to create a control panel, like the Tuya ones, that can be used to directly control/access home assistant. I imagine it would be a significant project, since there are a lot of different components involved.
If you like this idea, get this post some attraction! Let’s show Nabu Casa this is worth pursuing. Also suggest ideas here on different features that would make this worth buying.
My ideas:
- Different screen sizes
- E-Ink and LCD display (for price accessibility)
- POE (not sure if possible because of power usage)
- Distance sensor to automatically turn screen on/off
- Speaker and microphone for calling/video camera/voice assistant
