So I’m an arborist during my day job. Trees blowing around during storms has always interested me. Yesterday as I was driving around looking at trees there happen to be quite a bit of wind blowing. I tried to videotape some with my phone, but the gusts always stop by the time I decide to pull out the phone.
I got to thinking, could I use home assistant to monitor a weather station that would flag a video to be saved? I’d have to be recording 24/7, and overwriting the footage, except when a trigger gets thrown from a wind speed threshold.
I can figure out getting the wind speed trigger, but what I haven’t figured out is how to do the recording, with the occasional flag to prevent overwriting.
Is this something that could be done with frigate? Maybe there’s an MQTT message I can send to save a video or something. Just spit balling.
Any thoughts or strategies would be appreciated! Cheers.!
