I have dumb potlights in my house and these do come with a switch to select between cool, warm and natural (mix of cool and warm). Unfortunately, this switch lives in the individual light controller, meaning that I need to change that switch on every single light if I intend to change the temperature. Something like this:
I would love to be able to “smartify” this. What I’m thinking is open that controller box and solder wires where this switch lives, light by light, and have these all go to a relay+esp where I then control. I didn’t make any schematics for this yet, as I was just thinking if this would even be feasible.
I do wonder if someone here ever did anything like this before, and how.
Yes, these ‘set once’ lighting devices are PIA and so missing the mark. I would recommend getting a good grasp of the voltages of the lights and try and figure out there ‘communication protocols’.
The fundamental question/challenged is cost of trying to ‘enhance’ your current setup vs. ‘rip and replace’.
How many lights and how are they installed are part of the equation.
