Hi everyone,
We got terrible air quality in our house, so I wanted to improve on that. The house is built in 2007, and due to the extreme air tightness of newer houses, the air quality degrades extremely fast, if we do not open windows 3 times a day. There are a lot of good reasons why opening windows that many times, for that long every day is not ideal. Therefore I invested in an an air handling unit, that I am about to set up.
The AHU is from a Polish company called Dospel, and the model is an Optimal 400. Product page can be found here:

As it comes, there is not much smart about it at all. It is controlled by a little panel connected by an RJ11 connection, where the controls can be set. Filter change alarm is about as basic as anyone can imagine, it is (I kid you not), nothing but a little timer that when the button is pressed, resets time to 90 days, and then rings an alarm after that. Apart from that, all it has, is a manual switch used to change between “automatic bypass” and “manual bypass”, which is used to bypass the heat exchanger to prevent heat recovery during summer.
Opening up to the actual electronics of the unit is sealed, and warranty is void if opened. I have no problems opening this up though, if it is necessary to something. However, I was thinking about whether I could just connect some kind of IOT thing to the RJ11 to access the controls, connect a sonoff relay to the power cable to get power monitoring and maybe put some sensors into it.
Anyone have any good ideas for what I can do with this?
Just took at couple of pictures you can see here:
