Im trying a “Mission Impossible” I have a working HA with Ikea Tradfri hub and lights.I ordered some cheap door sensors (tuya based zigbee), and i was able to pair them with the gateway.
But in HA it only shows up as a sensor with only battery level measurement.
Any idea how I can configure this to be a door-sensor? (Yes I know its not the best to mix with Ikea and other Zigbee, but thats what i want to try for now)
Here is the State Attr. if needed:
state_class: measurementunit_of_measurement: %
device_class: battery icon:
mdi:door
friendly_name: Sensor 2
As you might have noticed, you can’t “configure” or even see much info(i.e. in regards to network) on the Ikea-tradfri-hub … And Ikea have chosen to make their devices communicate on zigbee-channel 10, where as many other brands choses zigbee-channel 15 as default
For most (small) devices you can’t do anything, and you can’t (for what i know) change Ikea to use another channel
Thank you so much for you quick reply.
Yes I have been doing a couple of days looking all over the place. I thought that I had read some place that it did not show as a recognize device in Ikea hub, and it would be very limited control, but it could be reconfigured in HA… Maybe it has been in my dream I have read this Just would be fun to be able to use Ikea gateway for everything and see if it was possible
The First i can agree upon, The Second … hmmmm, there are a bunch of tp-wired Zigbee coordinators out there( Which are far much better than Ikea-hub, And any USB-Controllers, USB is more prone to disturbance, and depending upon which Hardware HA is hosted on, i would say ( to many ) USB devices can can cause to much internal “interrupts” ( i.e if you both have a disk, and a zigbee-controller, on your hosts USB )
Thats why I use a Tubeszb coordinator. PoE. Placed where is has the best coverage, in the middle of the house. Using ethernet means no interference problems
