Ikea Home smart and Haier hOn integration

Hi smart people,

I need your help to solve the following problem:

In our summer house I have installed 2 Haier airco’s that can be managed by the hOn app.

Given the high electricity costs these days I want to create a logic that turns off the airco when a window is open. Also it should not be possible to turn on the airco if the window is already open.

To get the status of the windows I’ve installed Ikea windows sensors (PARASOLL) and connected them to the DIRIGERA hub. This part can be managed now via Ikea Home smart app with Control Anywhere enabled.

To bring sensors and airco’s together and configure automation first I tried Google Home app: I successully linked hOn Smarthome (this didn’t work for a while but they fixed it) and IKEA Home smart, got all devices in the app but then realized that Google Home has very limited automation capabilities, e.g. I can create a routine that is triggered when the window is open and turn off the airco but I cannot have a routine that is triggered when the airco is turned on, check the status of the window and if the window is open, turn off the airco.

Second attempt was with Amazon Alexa app: successfully added needed skills, added devices but couldn’t create proper automation logic.

Third attempt is with Home Assistant known for its flexibility: I have installed Home Assitant on my home Synology NAS in a container, installed HACS, added third party integration for hOn (GitHub - gvigroux/hon: Support of all Haier, Candy, Hoover appliances integrated in the official hOn mobile app. Direct access to all possible services and parameters) and successfully got my airco devices. But then I got blocked but not able to connect to IKEA Home smart. I was surprised because it was very easy to add a link in Google Home and Amazon Alexa apps. Also my challenge is IKEA hub is located in a different location and on a different network than Home Assistant.

Well, if Google Home is able to connect to IKEA smart home so Home Assitant should be able to do as well but I cannot find how…
Could you please help me?

Easiest way is to add a zigbee dongle to home assistant. More difficult way is through homebridge.
