IKEA Parasoll/Vallhorn devices not working (ZHA)

So a quick update, my parasoll is now reporting fine with no unavailable periods. I didn’t do anything other than open/close the door it’s on a few times and now it’s working fine. My only guess is perhaps it’s found a new route through my network?

For now I don’t think I’ll buy more of these, they’re just a little too temperamental for my liking.

Parasoll door sensors are my most capricious devices.
I’m using HAOS with Z2M and a SLZB06 attached, ~70 ZigBee devices.
Several times I really though some of these sensors were totally broken, and they finally works couple of months later (after pairing retries)

I have 4 parasoll devices and got them working with this suggestion in the first place. However after some time some suddenly stop working. First they just stop working and keep reporting Closed and after some time they became Unavailable. Really annoyed by these devices. This does not happen to any of my other zigbee devices so pretty sure it is related to the software and not to my zigbee network setup

Same worked for me. Thanks!

Another issue using Parasoll sensors… They never complete the configuration stage, and although when reloading the ZHA integration they seem to be properly listed, the reality is that they keep disconnecting all the time.

I have tried everything listed here, from connecting them directly to the coordinator to connecting them to Ikea bulbs or Ikea outlets. The behavior is always the same. I bought these trying to replace some Aqara door sensors, but they seem to have the same connection problems.

I have seen that there is a GitHub issue (IKEA PARASOLL Window/Door contact sensors never add successfully · Issue #133731 · home-assistant/core · GitHub) which was closed without a real solution…

Any suggestions on how we can proceed with this issue? These sensors are among the most affordable ones that use AAA batteries, so they should be working properly…

P.S.: I have a Vallhorn motion sensor that properly completed the configuration stage, and since then has had no connection errors at all.

Having the same issue. Got one Parasoll maybe a year ago, which at the time paired without any issue and is still working perfectly fine. Then got another two recently but cannot get them to configure correctly. HA SkyConnect dongle on a Pi 4.

Iive found from what i see with ZHA if i attempt to pair the Parasoll and unplug the skyconnect/zigbee dongle while it is stuck in configuring and reconnect the dongle that the device appears to pair successfully, after that I can reconfigure the device and it starts working, then all that you need too do is set the location and name of the device

This’ll likely be too late for you Adrian, but for posterity:
I had the exact same problems. I solved it completely by migrating to Zigbee2MQTT instead of ZHA. Two Parasoll sensors which got stuck on ‘configuring’ for 10 attempts on ZHA paired without issue the first time on Z2M.

SOLVED!!! I bought a bunch of Ikea Parasoll sensors and they were getting stuck on “configuring” during the Zigbee pairing process. after several failed attempts or trying to rejoin them, I saw online something that mentioned how quickly the devices go back to sleep. So I did the join process while continually bringing the device close to it’s magnet sensor to keep it awake until it finished pairing. it’s now fully joined!

My setup:

  • Sonoff 2ZBDongle-P - Version Z-Stack 20240710 (Although I added it via an Inoveli Blue switch that was near)
  • ZHA
  • HA running on a pi 4B

worked for me also, no issues with ZHA & SLZB-06M

Hi,
have about 40 of this damm’ Parasoll, its really bad stuff. My son told mee, they working great, but this isn#T tru.

Same behaviour as described. Best chance is to wait 1 minute and 20 seeconds before reloading thee ZHA integration.

Is there a better way do use this Parasolls? I don’t want to dump it all, caus it is hard work to remove them from windows and doors …

With best reegards

Gerhard

I’ve had this problem with IKEA Vallhorn motion sensor and also Somrig button. It seems to be true that the reason the config fails to finish is because the devices go to sleep in the middle of it.
I was able to successfully pair both by first pressing the pairing button 4x to get them into pairing mode and then just continuously holding the pairing button until the configuration was complete.
