Ikea tradfri battery drain

hey

so I have a lot of IKEA devices connected to home assistant.

and I’m experiencing crazy battery drain on a few of the devices in paticelercy Ikea on/off and Ikea shortcut button.

the fisk device i noticed this with was an ikea on/off button e1743 i managed to fix the issue bay switching to a different router.

but then a few new devices (a e1743 and e1812) started to have battery drain issues with sub 24 hours battery.

i then changed the router but this time i did not solve the problem

Has anyone else had the same issues and found a fix?

For several weeks I have had a problem with batteries that power IKEA Tradfri remote controls. New batteries discharge only after a few days and the remote controls stop working. All devices work in a small apartment, I did not change their position and previously I did not have such problems (I have been using this equipment for almost 2 years). Could this be caused by incorrect configuration in HA? I will be grateful for your help.

TL;DR: It’s a well known problem, more mains-powered devices help, update the firmware.

The 5-button remote (and other IKEA devices) has just received firmware update 0x24040005 / v24.4.5 which reduces polling and increases battery life. ZHA can automatically install such updates (no idea about Z2M), but note if you can update, a pre-release Zigbee quirks file (likely until HASS 2023-03) is needed.

Hi, I’ve been tracking a laundry list of issues operating IKEA TRÅDFRI 5-button remotes, however a firmware update seems to have resulted in some Zigbee devices working fine, but others missing all event triggers in ZHA except the remote Identify button which rather makes them rather useless as remotes!
