IKEA Tradfri dead and not showing any re-linking as well?

I have two IKEA tradfri buttons that are linked to HA via ZHA. These buttons originally paired just fine and since few days back, they stopped worked. I tried to remove and get them to re-linking/pairing mode (pressing the pair button 5 times within 4/5 second) but they seem to be completely dead and doesn’t wanna go into pairing mode (no red light).

Has anyone had any experience on getting this to work again? I replaced the batteries as well but no signs at all.

A little  :

  • Replace the batteries, fiddle with the buttons randomly until it re-pairs (i.e. (+) Add New Device). Yes, this may take a while. Remove the batteries for a few hours, and try again.
  • Enable firmware updates in ZHA as newer software has improved matters.
  • Add a mains powered Zigbee device(s) to act as a router (ZR) - e.g. a TRADFRI control outlet.
Mains powered radios can shout louder, and help move from point-to-point to mesh topology.
  • Add any Zigbee device(s) to increase the amount of mesh coverage.
More devices help move the topology from point-to-point to mesh.

Hi, thanks. I tried power circles and even keeping it away from power for a few days. But still the battery seems to be dead.

This worked for me: https://www.reddit.com/r/tradfri/comments/u3q05t/comment/k8ipo5s/

After some experimentation today, I found one Tradri would not pair nor communicate with a fresh IKEA CR2032 measured at about 3.2V.

However, when attached to a bench variable voltage PSU, it worked at 3.4V - my guess is the initial startup is pulling more current than the small CR2032 can cope with and browning-out. It still took fiddling with the pair button (4x presses-ish) and re-pairing to get it working, but after that, it worked again with a CR2032.

Why does a Tradfri decide to loose pairing after a low-battery? Don’t know.
Why did the previous Tradfri battery failure (same hardware batch) “just work”? Don’t know.

Annoying, but boot-strapping with a higher current supply might review a dead device.
