IKEA Trådfri Gateway [Zigbee]

Does it add the configurator back if you delete the tradfri.conf file from your config-folder?

@ggravlingen: Do you mean the folder: /home/homeassistant/.homeassistant ?
There is unfortunately no file tradfi.conf in there :disappointed:

Maybe I am missing something …

any potential workaround? I’m wondering if I can setup a dummy switch to do it with automation?

This might be what you are looking for? https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant/pull/7248

Wouldn’t it be possible to create a group including all the lights that you can play around with?

Yes, that’s the folder I’m referring to. No luck when rebooting HASS or your Raspberry (or whatever device you run HASS on) I guess?

nice! I thought that a group would not do the hue / brightness but appears it does! I asked before I looked and it’s pretty easy!

Hi @ggravlingen it came back after some time without a reboot. Probably … ‘Magic’
Thank you!

Deleted the libcoap folder - redid the installation … and now I can see the IKEA lights.
Thanks again

Why not use “aiocoap” provided by pip, instead of requiring users to manually building and installing “libcoap”? (I am not familiar with these libraries myself. Observation: HASS are already using “aiohttp”, is that a family of libraries?)

Unfortunately, aiocoap doesn’t support dtls which is required to communicate with the gateway.

While looking for other things i found this: https://git.fslab.de/jkonra2m/aiocoapMC

It is a aicoap version which seems to have support for dtls and mutlicast. Not sure of the state of if. The DTLS support is implemented using tinydtls. Maybe this could be useful for the continued work on Trådfri support.

Dtls on the server side seems to work according to that link, but where is it referenced that dtls works in a coap client?

Like i said, i have no real insight into the current state of the dtls support, but at least https://git.fslab.de/jkonra2m/aiocoapMC/blob/master/clientGET.py references DTLSSocket

I have seen this question being asked multiple times in this thread but havent seen a clear response - anyone willing and able to answer this - as this pretty much defines if I should go out to buy it or not …

With the current release: No.

Are there technical difficulties, or just a matter that no one did it

The sensor does not seem to report back to the gateway, that’s why it can’t be done.

that’s strange …? It goes where, just to the bulb?

@ggravlingen is it the same with the remote? Is it just a matter before there’s a breakthrough in the development process, or can we pretty much forget about using the remote and motion sensor to control other HA entities?

I really appreciate the effort you and the other guys put into this project, btw

That would be a huge bummer. The whole reason I bought tradfri is the cheaper motion sensors and dimmer buttons.
