IKEA Tradfri Motion Sensor lag after triggered

Hi!

I just made a staircase LED lighting with Gledopto controllers and Node Red .
To trigger it I am using IKEA tradfri Motion Sensor.

It is working like a charm, only maybe 1 second delay after triggered. But you get “motion detected” before you reach the stairs, so that is not a problem.

BUT! What I don’t like, is that after the Sensor gives the “On” state in Node Red then “Off” again, it takes approximately 2-3minutes before the Sensor are able to work again?
Bug of feature??
Meaning I can only light up the stairs every 3 minutes :weary:

The new Ikea motion sensors normally only give an ‘off’ three minutes after they detected no more motion.

Most battery motion sensors do this to conserve battery life; would last bugger all if they they reset the trigger every 1 second.

Yes, this is by design, as the others have mentioned. The key is to turn the lights off when the sensor goes to off - and not X minutes after motion is detected. This way it’s always ready to detect motion (and turn lights on) in a dark room/hallway.

PS: if it’s really bothering you, the Hue goes to off after 15 seconds and Aqara after 1 minute of no motion.

That is how I use them.
