Ikea Tradfri remote battery level not showing

Hi,

My Ikea Trafri remote is not showing the battery level. Does anyone has an idea why not? Thanks!

It might be that the device hasn’t published an update regarding the battery yet.

I see that you use MQTT, are you using zigbee2mqtt by any chance? It will update once the battery changes, I think.

I have exactly the same problem since 1 week. I use zigbee2mqtt and mqtt mosquitto.

Zigbee2mqtt and mosquito too indeed. The battery level of the other devices were available directly after pairing the devices.

I actually had to replace the battery of my Tradfri remote yesterday and its state was ‘unknown’ until today when it updated its battery level.

I’m having sort of the same issue, using deCONZ and the device is added but no entity:

Both my Philips Hue Dimmer Switches and my Xiaomi Mini Switches have battery entities.

The IKEA Remote is running the latest firmware (2.3.014).

My remote is still not showing the battery level, but i haven’t replaced the battery yet.

I have replaced it, and still no battery entity.

I have 2 Ikea 5 button remotes. One shows battery, but the other does not. I noticed in attributes that Battery Voltage is missing for the one that isn’t reporting battery percentage. I’m using ZHA. I also have an Ikea dimmer switch that shows battery without issue. Both showing the same FW version as well. Did anyone find a reliable fix for this?

Wondering if anyone else has this issue or found a fix? all 3 of my Ikea remotes are showing either unavailable or unknown, even with fresh batteries.

Nope didnt find a solution…

I had some similar issues when first connecting the devices with Z2M. I force removed them and re-added them (pressing the button 4 times) and they eventually showed up with the battery after some time passed.

I believe IKEA remotes don’t report battery that frequently. After a while it’ll be unavailable again.

RESOLVED: I had this issue (Z2M, Tradfri, deCONZ). I found that in Z2M page, start Reconfigure on the TRADFRI device, and then immediately press one of the buttons on the device so Last Seen is updated. Had 4 (plus 1 E1525 Movement Sensor) that weren’t reporting and fixed all of them this way. Had to do give it a few tries on 1 of them, but apart from that, it worked!
