Has anybody been successful at routing Aqara (contact) sensors through the new Ikea TRETAKT plugs?
I’m using ZHA with a Sonoff ZBDongle-P updated to the latest firmware (20240710) and had the same results with a Conbee II.
Some Aqara sensors connect to the coordinator or the Aqara T1 smart relay, but not a single one to the TRETAKT plugs. They are all “floating”.
I found one post that successfully did this, but I have no idea how:
This is my network map, you can clearly see the floating sensors on the left, the Aqara smart relay on the top and the other routers are TRETAKT:
I tried again using Z2M and although it is possible to connect the sensors via the TRETAKT plugs, they all drop their connection after some time. Even after updating the firmware of the plugs.
Unfortunate, because the Tradfri plugs we’re a good and cheap solution to solidify the mesh network.
Let’s hope more suppliers will make their devices ZigBee 3.0 compliant.
Anyone knows some other good products as repeater for Aqara sensors + Sonoff Zigbee 3.0?
I read someone said use “Sonoff S31 Lite zb Plug” but wanted to see options.
Some did reflash “SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB” as router but trying to find off the shelf working solution first.
I’ve got an Aqara flood sensor being routed reliably via a Tuya valve closer in ZHA for the past couple of years with no issues whatsoever.
In Z2MQTT, I’ve got an Aqara motion sensor being routed via a Tuya energy meter, as well as an Aqara door sensor being routed via a couple of Lidl lightbulbs. Both of these have been rock-solid for me and are triggering automations multiple times a day.
If you’re worrying about routing issues with the Aqara sensors, don’t worry too much. Even if you’re unsure about the Sonoff plug, just buy one and try it out - worst case scenario is if it doesn’t route, you can move it somewhere else where the Aqara sensors won’t need it.
Hello,
thank you very much for your contributions. I can confirm the behavior, the “IKEA Tretakt Plug” as a router and the “Aquara Door & Window Sensor” don’t seem to like each other.
I also use zigbee2mqtt. When the Aqara sensor is connected to the Tretakt plug, the sensor is “floating” in the zigbee2mqtt graphic. After some time (1-3h) the sensor loses the connection. If the Aqara sensor is close to the coordinator (Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus / ZBDongle-E) and is connected to it, the connection is stable.
The problem seems to be that Aqara does not fully comply with the ZigBee specification and certain routers are more tolerant here. I therefore no longer use Aqara devices.
