It’s been 2 years I got an Ipad to control my home. In the last 6 to 8 months I noticed a strange behaviour. When I log in (with a dedicated user for that ipad), the session stays active for several minutes. Then I get a message saying I’ve been kick off by the server.
At the very beginning, when I bought my Ipad, the session has been kept active for several months without any credentials issue (like on my Android phone).
I have been experiencing the same issue. Sometimes it will last for several days, other times it will last maybe a minute (kicked me out after logging in and being active in the app). Always with the message the server rejected your credentials.
The app is up to date (2024.1)
Happened with its usual non-admin user and with an admin account, nothing stands out in the logs, and no issue on my android phone.
iPad Air 2, Software v15.8.
My thanks in advance for advice or direction provided!
I did see several older tokens, no longer in use. I also noticed that the device was bouncing between two IPs. I’ve re-established its assigned IP with the router and dumped all previous tokens. I’ll set a reminder to revisit this post after a bit to follow up.
Thank you, Vic.
Look at the privacy settings also, there is an option to prevent the Ipad/Iphone from being tracked by changing MAC addresses. This might confuse the DHCP server also when longer leases are applied. See what happens if you disable that. Duplicate IP-Addresses can also be an issue with these privacy settings.
Alright, I’ve discovered the iPad signed out twice in the last two and a half weeks. The first occurrence was just days after posting and the second shortly thereafter (didn’t think to write it down). I was pretty sure the second was due to losing the WiFi connection (router reboot), so, today, I had the time and took the opportunity to reboot the router again. The iPad stayed signed in; the SSID history doesn’t even show an interruption.
I went in to check the privacy settings, and I already had the most recent suggestions disabled.
That said, I am continuing to monitor the sitch and will check-in after a month-ish. If I catch a trigger or notice a pattern I’ll pop in sooner!
I had high hopes, unfortunately even with all these settings disabled, it keeps kicking me off. What’s weird is that I have an Android phone where I am connected without any issue like this one.
Hey looic78, sorry for the month long delay in reply. It seems I’m not getting notified of replies and I haven’t checked back since life became busy.
I wasn’t checking the logs so much as monitoring the sensors histories and states. They weren’t particularly helpful, as I would find errors with the sensors (unrelated to the iPad signing out).
I did find a way to keep the iPad signed in, however. In the user settings for the user logged into the iPad, I disabled “Can only log in from the local network”.
The router has been restarted twice in that time and the iPad received multiple updates. In all instances, the iPad user has remained logged into HA.
I don’t particularly understand the why of it, and, since the iPad very rarely leaves the vicinity of the wifi, it should be fine with local access only. But disabling this appears to have rectified my problem.
