Tried downloading a blueprint for IKEA TRADFRI remote to make them work with my IKEA bulbs in ZHA, but stuck here. Not sure I understand the documentation either…

Did you click on the ‘create link’ it provides to create a holder for a number?
Beyond that you should go to the original blueprint author’s post and get a further explanation of what the number helper is for.
Hey and thanks for the reply. I cannot see any “create link” option anywhere. Maybe Im looking at the wrong place.
In this example, I got a blueprint for getting the IKEA remotes to work with ZHA and the lightbulbs, and the helper is required according to the documentation of the blueprint so that it saves the state of the lightbulbs (I assume color temperature and brightness) so that when turned on next time it turns it on according to the latest save.
I might be completely wrong here, but I just cant really understand what helpers are for, and they are required in 3 of the blueprints I found for the IKEA remote…
A helper in that case is a global variable. You set it, HA stores it for you. Then the blueprint will trigger and run, atore it’s ‘state’ via a variable, and stop running until the next trigger. There are many different helpers, however. I suggest reading up on all the helpers available.
