Hi,
I want to set up custom gps locations, or geofences, so that if my phone (device) enters the zone of the local shopping centre, I can launch a shopping list for that location, or have functionality activate when I arrive at work for instance.
Is this doable?

To setup zones in Home-Assistant you do it through Zones option in the Dashboard (settings page).
You should also set up a person with the relevant devices to track. Then you can setup various automations when that person enters or exits a zone.
