Impossible to join to other device than coordinator

Hi, I have HA installed on a Rpi 4. For Zigbee, I have a ConbeeII with zigbee2mqtt. I would like to join a device (aqara temp sensor) to another device than the coordinator (an ikea power plug - TRADFRI control outlet) therefore I select “Permit join” the plug but it is impossible to join whilst it is easy to join the coordinator…
Any idea of the problem ?

It’s a bit academic, because Zigbee devices don’t stay joined to one device - connections change over time, depending on factors like traffic.

Start with the basics:

  • Are you using the dropdown arrow next to Permit Join to select your plug?
  • Is your device next to your plug when you start the pairing process?
  • Are you periodically (every couple of seconds) pressing the button on your temp sensor while pairing, in case the device goes back to sleep?

Ouch. Do you have any other (non-IKEA) zigbee router devices you could try pairing through, even temporarily?

At least that way you can isolate whether it’s an incompatibility between Aqara & Ikea.
