I added the numeric value for Netflix and and Plex. The Netflix logo was displayed in HA previous to the change and continues to display but I am still unable to request Netflix from HA. Plex displays the logo in HA as well but also is not able to be requested. I do not think the logo was ever displayed prior to adding the numeric values. Still nothing for Spotify and YouTube.
I do wonder a bit if Sam has added an additional value that must be passed to the TV to select a source. I’ve tried to use a network sniffer before with very very limited success but will have some time (one handed) after a planned medical procedure so if that is an approach, I am happy to try, and I am also open for advice on were / how to dig. I am also interested to add a YouTube TV app. I could look for the same while digging around??
Thanks for the assistance
IF this helps.

FWIW: For unrelated reasons I reconfigured my Unifi network as part of moving the controller. I ended up resetting the gateway and notice this evening that the Samsung card is showing the logos for Netflix (it has all long) but now Plex and YouTubeTV also seem to work, The text and numeric values are displayed again as well. However on/off control seems to have gone away. I’m not a real tech head but I can make time to test things.
Hi,
Thank you @jaruba for this nice project. Working very nice with Smarthings API
I have set up scripts for getting a specific channel, but i want to have it in media player card as a channel list.
didn’t found a proper setup of where to create and maintain channel_list. Any help with where to create this?
Thank you
Now App do not work anymore. I have to send keys to select NETFLIX or YouTube.
I am truly sorry for the lack of responses recently, we have been hard at work merging the two most popular Samsung TV components into this one component. There is still much to do, but expect a greatly improved experience with the next major release.
This new release will have breaking config changes, but it will help us move forward towards a better Samsung TV experience for everyone.
So start getting excited, it will be worth the wait.
I have set this up but the TV keeps asking for permission with a popup every few seconds. No matter how many times I allow the app it keeps popping up. any suggestions?
I have that too. I think Samsung just does not pay any attention to this. Even their own app does not work properly.
Dropping a note here in case others care - Samsung finally released updated firmware for the q90 ad possibly the q95 TV’s. Those sets have not worked well with eARC or even ARC. In my case the TV does not always wake the receiver. The update has improved this but even after ANOTHER factory reset it seems that it only works 50% of the time. Other issues like sound cutting out when changing the volume have not re-occurred yet.
And Thanks jaruba!
I have a Samsung Q950T soundbar which I want to control with the Smartthings Soundbar custom component.
I’m unsure about the initial configuration to set the api key and device id.
I have previously set an api key for HA when I first integrated Smartthings in to HA a while ago. Does the Smartthings Soundbar custom component need a new one?
I already have the soundbar configured in Smartthings and can see it’s device ID in the app. Can I use that?
Dumb question - when I add the configuration to my configuration.yaml, do I include the quotes for api_key and device_id entries?
Thanks, I am looking forward to using this.
Hi everyone,
the YoutubeKids symbol has not worked for a few days.
Do you have any idea what it could be?
Thanks.
I have just started using this and it is working really well, thank you. Is there are way to toggle “night sound” on and off please
I haven’t heard about this function, what does it do?
Basically kills the bass and other low frequencies so the sound doesn’t travel as far. It’s great for watching at night without waking up other people in the house
Edit:
In the smarthings app it’s under “advanced sound settings”
I don’t think that it’s possible to do using API… Or at least it wasn’t described in the documentation the last time I have read it
Hello,
Thanks for sharing your concern, I really appreciate for your post.
please follow below steps, this steps surely helping you to improve your tv control.
- Try updating SAMSUNG Smart TV firmware. By doing that regularly you will make sure that SAMSUNG Smart TV performance is as good as possible.
- Always monitor the internal memory space - too little of it may cause serious problems with SAMSUNG Smart TV performance.
- Make sure that all your files such as photos and videos are on external memory (like SD memory card)
- Search for some application on Google Play Store which may be useful to upgrade your SAMSUNG Smart TV performance (for example an antivirus app, startup manager, app cache cleaner).
- Applications which you do not used should be uninstalled.
- Try restarting the SAMSUNG Smart TV.
thank you,
Just got a Samsung Q9FN, together with a Playstation 5. I have the TV connected to a Chromecast with Google TV, and the TV is connected to an external amplifier. So I have an issue where the volume on the Playstation 5 is way to high and I have to lower it manually each time.
Is it possible to use the Samsung integration to detect when a source is changed on the TV? And when the source is changed from HDMI1 to HDMI2 it should automatically lower the volume to a specific value. And the reverse when switching back.
Is this doable?
HI
Great component.
Is it possible to stream cameras or rtsp to use in automations.
Hi All,
Is there a way to send a YouTube URL to the app on the Samsung tv to play a live channel or a YouTube video?
Thanks!
Hi Jaruba,
can you please restore the Youtube Kids logo? That doesn’t work anymore.
And insert the Disney + logo, which doesn’t exist yet.
Thanks.
