In Need of POE Doorbell Suggestions

Good day everybody.
Sorry to ask. I’m not good with tech (not yet at least!), and I just need help choosing my very first smart doorbell. It needs to:

  • Support RTSP
  • POE
  • Basic functionality (like seeing the video and audio) is accessible through the HA app, no need to install the brand’s proprietary app
  • Work well with frigate, and
  • Not misbehave when disconnected from the internet and kept on a local network.

I was hoping to get Reolink’s POE Doorbell, but it seems that “using third-party software like Frigate” could cause connections to drop, so it might be too finicky for me. I’ve seen the AD110 and AD410; they both support rtsp, and there’s even a guide showing that the AD110 can be taken offline, only at the cost of being able to answer the doorbell(fine by me), but both are wifi doorbells, and the guide is also several years outdated so I’m not sure if it works anymore.

I’d love to hear any suggestions. Thanks!

Edit: added the app requirement

Dahua VTO is POE.

Which model are you referring to?
I also can’t find Dahua on the integrations page. I want to be sure it’s reasonably stable/supported before I buy one.

Dahua VTO-2202

It uses Amcrest integration
It also supports sip

A lot of people us Reolink. It’s not my favorite but it is good.

Amcrest is nice but I don’t think they have pie doorbell last I looked. Amcrest and dahua rename company from what I understand.

EDIT
What will you use integration for?
The offline issue you mention may be related to WiFi models. Technically frigate should not have big effect so the offline may be related to their network but I don’t have that camera and wouldn’t know. Only tried them out for a short period.

My bad, I thought integration just meant device support/compatibility so that all these different devices can work with HA. I misunderstood the glossary. It’s support for device/vendor specific features on HA, right?

And if you’re right about the network issues, Reolink may still be an option then. I’ve seen people here having more problems with the Wifi Reolink than the POE version.

How does the Wifi Reolink and Dahua VTO-2202 compare? I know you only tried the former for a bit, but was one of them more stable/less finicky than the other? More features or less?

Pretty much yes

It is to the implement an API supported feature.

Really I think it just gives the ai or detection info if it has that.

I don’t know if what I suggested was true but without looking into it that it my guess

I’ve had both but only used either for testing only. Neither had feature that stood out. Image is likely about the same for both. I think both support same function. Reolink is slimmer/smaller. The dahua has input and output for relay controls and binary sensors.

I only used both for testing but never used long term. If you have other cameras I would match to those. Otherwise I don’t see much of a difference from my use other than color, mount type or shape

I guess some use below integration. I do not but only because I preferred to use direct api call for doorbell press events and camera image.

That’s good, so I’m assuming you had no issue setting up basic functionality (seeing audio & video, notifications from doorbell rings) with either one.

Were you forced to install the vendor/device’s proprietary app for either doorbell? I’d like to be able to use the doorbells entirely through the HA app if possible.

I never setup Reolink. I connected camera. I don’t remember how far I went with doorbell but i remember not hating it. Which generally means it did the basics well.

Dahua I setup camera to frigate, relay and doorbell. It worked without issue. I just never installed.

No. I did not install vendor apps or uses devices that require them.
