In other room temperature just "is"

If I ask the PE “what is the temperature?” it reads out to me what a temperature sensor in the same room is displaying. If I ask “what is the temperature in ?” it replies “Temperature is” with no value.

Do you have other temperature sensors exposed correctly?

If so do those temperature sensors have the correct rooms (zones) set for them?

Do they have friendly recognisable names that would support your voice request?

Yes to the first two. The third question may not be relevant as I am not asking about sensors by name, just by area. Though to my mind they have pronounceable friendly names that are recognisable by Google Assistant.

But having done some further experimenting I am more confused. No matter which area I assign to my assistant, it only reports the temperature of the original room (which only has one sensor so it’s that sensor specifically it appears to be consulting). I have tried rebooting the PE after allocating a new room to it to be sure it’s picked up the change.

So now I am not sure how to describe the situation and I’d better sit with it a bit longer until it looks a bit clearer.

Later: I think I may have fixed it. I have given the temperature sensors I want it to report verbally the alias “temperature”. It doesn’t make total sense as the one it was reporting properly didn’t have that word other than in the entity name that was exposed (not the device name) just like the ones it wouldn’t report. But heck we all have our quirks, my new little assistant is allowed his as well.

There is currently no built-in way to get sensor values without using a name.
But you can create your own automations for this task.

I have no problem with that other than being puzzled by the apparent inconsistency between identical and similarly named sensors in different rooms. But inconsistencies often turn out not to be such once understanding increases.
