Including Fibaro Dimmer 2 with Razberry

Hi,

I am new to homeassistant (moving over from OpenHAB at my previous house) so I have some experience with Z-Wave but not in this environment / setup.

I have a new Home Assistant Yellow with a RazBerry V2 Daughter Board which shows active in the UI. When I go into inclusion mode, the red LED lights up, so no indications of problems there.

The challenge is that when I do the 3 presses on my dimmer I don’t get anything in the logs at all. I’ve tried using the “B Button” and the switch connected to S1. The dimmer works as a manual button button there is no messages in the log. Could this be a frequency issue or faulty hardware?

Any ideas?

Well the dimmer is not communicating with the Razberry card, that’s for sure. I have a FDG-212, which is the Dimmer 2 I think, and it Just Worked when I set it up a couple of years ago. My Z-Wave controller is a Razberry card from 2016, so it’s a pretty similar set-up. Do you have any other Z-Wave devices and do they talk to the controller alright?

I have a half dozen of these in my house and they work quite well. The only tricky bit is getting it paired with having to click the tiny button three times to get it into pairing mode. You might have to do it several times in a row to get Z-Wave to recognize it. The timeout on Z-Wave JS (presuming this is what you are using) is short, so if you don’t see it recognize just triple-tap that button again (and again if needed). It can be persnickety but if I remember correctly there’s a light that comes on blue on the device when it’s in inclusion/exclusion mode.

For me, with tiny devices like this, I actually built out an external switch box that I can plug into the wall and wire directly to the device, that way I can try to pair it within just a foot or two of the Z-Wave controller to ensure linking.

Thanks for the help all. Looks like it was an old stock RazBerry 2, which was set by default to EU region. I installed Z-Way, followed the instructions for changing the region to ANZ and then everything worked as expected.
