Increase disk size of VM on Mac, running HAOS in VirtualBox

Migrating from Hassio on Pi3 to a VM running HAOS in Virtualbox on my Mac. The transition was great restoring from Home Assistant Cloud, but the VMDK that I used to make this new VM only gave me a 5GB usable disk, and so I only have under 0.9GB left inside the VM. It does not let me create a backup: “Failed to Create Backup”. I have Google Drive connected as well to allow it to save more backups once I have this working, but right now it does not allow it. Curiously, my last backup was 37MB, so I would think that is enough space to allow it, but no dice. I still get the Failed message due to not enough space.

Can anyone help me resize that? I already had to redo it once after having done an expansion that left me at a boot Shell prompt. (Yes, the VM was already shut down when I did this.) I would like to get it to 20GB.

VBoxManage modifyhd /Volumes/blah/haos_generic-aarch64-16.0.vmdk --resize 20000

Does anyone know the recommended process for this?

Going to give this a shot :crossed_fingers:

And just for anyone looking for this specific situation later on, the instructions on that page worked for steps 1-4. I skipped steps 5-8 for gparted, as HAOS expanded to fill the available space, resuming with step 9-10.

It was easier than having made the original post in the first place. LMAO
