Individually Addressable Ceiling-mounted Lights

I apologize if this has been addressed. I can’t find that thread. Also, is “hardware” the correct place for this question?

I’m not sure if what I want is achievable. I’m building a new home and want the following for my ceiling mounted lights (which must be LED):

  • the ability to re-program dimmers after installation to set dimming levels of individual fixtures, preferably without homeassistant running (in case that hardware/software go down)
  • the ability to address individual fixtures via homeassistant
  • excellent, flicker-free 0.1% dimming
  • warm dimming

I think that probably adds up to a DALI, DMX, or KNX systems. or maybe Lutron “EcoSystem?” (I can’t wrap my head around what this is). Is there an obvious/easy solution for me?

Here’s a non-lutron driver that has come up in searching all of the above. I wonder if anyone has used this or similar?

Thanks!

You can always look for a DIY solution buying the LED strip on Amazon and some controller… Look for WLED, as it is pretty easy to setup and integrate with Home Assistant, with lots of existing effects, or if you want a bit more adventure you can try building something with ESPHome, as you will find a bunch of libraries available to build nice effects.

Hey, Edward. Thanks for the reply. I was probably unclear: I’m looking for downlights (something that looks like old can lights, roughly), not strips… Any ideas in that realm?

Thanks!
