I started out with a Philips Hue outdoor motion detector which works great and its batteries are still showing at 100% after 6 months. I then bought the Ikea motion detector for indoor use and its CR2032 batteries don’t seem to last more thn a few months. Either I’ve been using poor batteries from Ikea and Sony or I should switch to a detector that uses AAA or AA batteries.
Before I buy the Philips Hue indoor version for $45, I’m wondering if there are other devices I should consider that have a long operating life that work well with HA and hopefully z2m
I have some Aqara motion sensors (both versions) and I’m pretty happy with those. I never replaced a battery even using for more than an year).
I’ve some Hue sensors also, and I like more those, as the illuminance sensor have much better resolution. But they cost 2 or 3 times more than an Aqara sensor.
Sorry to revive this topic, but this is a constant issue.
Same question here: I have more than 10 Sonoff motions detectors and some are asleep, some are working and others are disconnected. They are very sensible and if a fly moves, they will trigger.
I am looking for the following features :
Strong battery,
Ability to disconnect motion detection when home and no motion detection is needed.
Adjustable sensitivity (I don’t know how this works),
Very good zigbee 3.0 support and good radio,
OTA updates,
Preference for traditional batteries compared to Lithium (fire).
Good price : I may buy 15 of those. So should be 10 EUR - 20 EUR. Not 40 EUR.
