Indoor PTZ camera with full HA support - Eufy vs Reolink?

Hi, i am looking for an indoor PTZ camera with the following requirements:

  • Wifi based, mains powered
  • full control via home assistant including tilting, rotating, enabling night vision etc. via automations
  • fully working without the need of any mobile app
  • web interface for setup

The models I was considering are the following:

  • Aquara G2H/G3 - i especially like the design of G3, but is only supported in HA via Homekit which according to the reviews has limited functionality. Also its reliant on a mobile app and has no web interface and comes with a bunch of function not needed by me (e.g. Zigbee hub - i already use deconz for that)
  • Eufy indoor cam 2k pan & tilt - i couldn’t figure out how the level of HA support - there’s a custom integration in HACS but i am not sure if it can rotate the camera. Also i don’t know if it has a web interface
  • Reolink E1 Zoom - i already have an outdoor Reolink camera and know has good support in home assistant incl. PTZ support, also has web interface. However in terms of product quality according to youtube it looses in every way to the Eufy cam - video and sound quality, motor noise, alarm sound, etc. Also it’s more expensive than eufy.

What’s your take on this?

TP-Link TAPO C200 work very well but only 1080p. The HA integration is awesome and very reliable for me.

I apologize for the absence of people in this thread. I can tell you that I reached a high level of research on these 2 cameras (with the exception of Aqara, because I just found out about your topic and I was simply in love). I will highlight some of them below.

Aqara G3

Perfect. Impeccable design. Identifies hand gestures, which with an integration would be perfect in the HA for triggers. Acts as a Zigbee hub. It probably provides RTSP stream which would be enough for video monitoring. I don’t think it provides ONVIF protocol, but searching I found this integration for HA: GitHub - niceboygithub/AqaraCamera: Aqara Camera G3 integration for Home Assistant

Eufy

It’s my current camera as I couldn’t find the Aqara for sale so I could test it. About the Eufy integration, I currently use WebRTC for monitoring, and the HACS “Eufy Security” integration, which provides absolutely all Eufy application settings as entities, from speaker volume to PTZ control. The bad point is that apparently it uses the cloud for this connection.

Reolink

I discovered this camera after I bought the Eufy, but apparently there isn’t much difference. I thought Reolink was superior in terms of quality, but you’re saying there are some downsides. I don’t know how it integrates with HA, but I know it offers RTSP and ONVIF protocol, so I would be able to at least do the monitoring with WebRTC. I don’t know if just because it’s ONVIF, it’s already possible to control PTZ, I’m still looking for that information. One more advantage that I see in the Reolink E1 Zoom camera is having an Ethernet input, for better stability and, if you are interested, a future upgrade to the Reolink DVR device.

So…

I don’t think the quality of Reolink is inferior to Eufy, just the difference in the engine sound bothers me. Moreover, in technical terms, Reolink is superior, including the optical zoom feature. As I said, I don’t know about the HA integration, but it seems to have all the features available. I’m still going to buy one to compare them side by side. I would really love to have an Aqara G3 so I can test the HA integration and get more details about it. Unfortunately in Brazil I can only import.

If you have any specific questions, I’ll be happy to help. A few screenshots (Eufy):

Its a bit delayed, but I personally have a Reolink E1 Zoom and it works nicely.
The initial setup does require an app, but after that you can disable the UID and use inside your LAN.

I will have a new baby and I want to setup a 2nd camera for monitoring and my requirements are quite the same:

  • LAN only
  • Web interface for admin
  • Nice HA integration (with zoom/ptz)

So far Reolink is again my 1st choice, but I would give Aqara a try, since I have 30 days to test and return to Amazon if I dont like it.
