GUys,
I have purchased a couple of 2nd hand Kogan smart plugs with energy monitoring. I purchased these last year from another Aussie assuming that he had put tasmota on them,
I have now realised that he probably had flashed ESPHome.
I can not get the device to go back to failsafe mode with default SSID etc using the normal Tasmota reboot sequence.
Does ESPhome have anything similar ? i.e a way to reset the config on a device so i can get it to put out a standard SSID for me to attach to ?

There is a fallback mode where the device will spawn an access point if it can’t connect to the configured WiFi. However, this would need to be configured explicitly when initially setting up the device. And you would need to know/guess the password.
I am not aware of any way to reset an ESPHome device.
You’d need to remove the plug from mains/AC power, first.
Connect a USB-to-TTL adapter cable from PC to plug.
Use ESPHomeFlasher.exe or esptool.exe to flash new software to the ESP at the hardware level.

Yeah - these are a bit tough to open without destroying.
