I have a very large installation (8000+ entities) of Home Assistant. Very happy with it. The only thing now is that if a family member get’s a new phone or a new account, the first dashboard which is displayed is the overview. Because this contains all entities, it will never load and the app won’t respond anymore. The aim is of course to set another default dashboard. But as far as I know this is impossible. The phone I’m currently installing is an iPhone 11.
Is there a solution to this?

If you set another dashboard as default, that is only for you, in that browser, until you clear cookies. So the best way is indeed to take control and make the official overview default dashboard the way you want it.
If you already have a dashboard you want as the default, simply use raw/yaml mode from the top right menu to copy the entire contents of that dashboard to the overview dashboard. It takes less than a minute to do.
If you ever want an autogenerated dashboard on the side you can create one any time.
