Did anybody use these switches? If so, how good is their mmWave detection? I tried to find people online, I could not find one that is talking about specifically about mmWave except Linus which was not great experience.
These things aren’t shipping yet, so nobody outside the beta testers have any. That one you found from Linus is from some very early prototypes and probably isn’t indicative of the experience.
I have just under 20 of these on order (got in the queue in July), and it looks like they’ll arrive by the end of the month.
After researching further, that is what I found out. Can you keep me posted about your experience?
I bought 6 of them. The mmWave detection is very good. I have them set to maximum sensitivity. They detect my presence when I am in the shower behind the glass walls and doors. I don’t think that they can see through glass. I think that they can detect the glass moving from the water hitting it. They are so sensitive that I don’t use them to trigger any lights. I have PIR detectors for that. I use them to detect presence when there is very little motion so that I can keep the lights on. In general, I think that these switches are wonderful. They have a tremendous amount utility as a dimmer, mmWave motion detection, and light sensor. I use the config button control the fan or to cut the brightness by a factor of 2. These are the best switches on the market (my opinion).
