is there any chance to fill an input_text using voice assistant?
I would like to tell voice assistant (in my case alexa) to set an entity.
so I could add items to todoist
Do you want to Alexa to recognize the specific item stated via voice then relay that to HA? If so I was under the impression Alexa is not able to use variables.
well, my idea is if I say (for example): Alexa, set item to milk, the input_text entity should change its state to “milk”. so I could react on changes and (for example) add milk to my todoist list.
Check this thread out
You can convert a script to a switch and Alexa will recognize it as a device.
So if your script updates the ToDo list with milk, Alexa will update the ToDo list.
The one caveat is you’ll need a script for each item, not ideal. If your list is limited, it’s a workaround.
Hi and thanks for the hint. I used todoist (not a todo list, I am talking of todoist) in the past on my mobiles as well as with alexa, but amazon decided to turn off the public list api, so todoist can not be filled with alexa anymore (your Mom is also not an option, as we are speaking German here so it is not available).
Amazon list is not an option for me, neither is HA lists (as HA also would have to use the public API which is turned off).
I just thought that filling a text in HA (whatever entity type it could be) could do the trick.
Sorry, I missed that you called out a different integration. I’ll adjust your thread title
thank you!
but the integration should not be relevant. the important thing would be to fill an entity with a voice command on alexa…
It matters how Alexa,HA and the HA integration work together. If Alexa can’t handle variables then the point is moot.
hm. I am using the nabu casa service. I dont know how they are doing that. I think I would not be the only one who would be happy if shopping lists would work again with alexa…
