Install HAOS, add ZWave JS - error and I'm just starting

I have a fresh install of HAOS and the very first thing I’m doing is adding ZWave JS. I haven’t plugged in the ZWave dongle since its currently being used…I’m hoping to move my setup from HA Core.

I get the error - Invalid server version: Z-Wave JS Server version (1.26.0) is incompatible. Update the Z-Wave JS Server to a version that supports at least api schema 28

…is this the error I should expect to see when a ZWave usb stick is missing?

You can’t use the add-on without the controller. The driver must be up and running in order for the Z-Wave integration to connect.
