Is it possible to install Home Assistant Operating System on NUC but on ssd instead of sd card easily (like the procedure https://www.home-assistant.io/installation/nuc)?
My goal is to install the HA OS, not a container, etc…
NUC’s don’t use an SD card, they do use a SSD. So yes, you can only install HassOS on the SSD.
Either pull the SSD out of the NUC and ‘burn’ the NUC image to it using another computer, or use a Linux boot USB stick to boot the NUC, download the NUC image from within the Linux demo OS, ‘burn’ the image to the SSD, reboot / pull USB stick out.
Indeed, looks like the documentation has had a massive refurbishment recently and it’s not good. No wonder the forums are full of confused new starters.
They basically copy / pasted the old RPi instructions for a NUC
I took notes just last week when re-doing my NUC install so I could submit a PR for the docs. I’ll hopefully get to it soon.
Yeah, this is the second set of docs I’ve come across in the last 20 minutes that’s been changed dramatically. Seems a bit daft.
Thanks a lot, makes more sense lol
I already have HA on my unraid server but since I had an old NUC, wanted to build one for my mom
well, ok, basically, replace the word sd with ssd and the procedure works flawlessly…
Thanks again guys!
