Install older version from source code

My older version of home assistant crashed. When installing a new version and restore from backup, supervisor, ESPhome, config files and more are missing. I’m guessing it’s because my backup does not work with the newer version. I need to install version 2021.1.1 and then restore. Once I have all back and running I can update. So could someone please help me, How do I install a fresh 2021.1.1 from the source code files. Thanks
Sorry I running a raspberry pi 4.

Looks like I need to create a .img file from the source code. Anyone want to point where to go? Im using a Mac BTW.

Create a new install with the current version.

Install the SSH & Terminal addon or issue this command from an attached keyboard and monitor:

ha core update --version 2021.1.1

This will downgrade you to the older version.

Restore your backup.

In my further searching I have found the older hassOS images to install from. It was a couple years ago when I set this all up, and I had update a few times. Questions: would I be better to in stall hassOS 6.15 or do as you suggested? What is the version where they moved things around in the config file? I think that’s my problem… should I install a hassOS version which is right before the config changes? I’m just guessing at what version I need to install so that my backup will work. I did have it all setup to create a backup every couple days. Thanks for your help
