Installation on Synology DSM 7 with no Docker support?

Hi, I’d like to install Home Assistant on my Synology DS118 but it doesn’t support Docker.

Was anyone able to install it directly through pip maybe using pyenv?

I see there’s also a SynoCommunity package but it’s quite outdated.

I am trying to setup a separate HAOS (I have a docker version running elsewhere) and am using VMM, I do have a 218+ and I am not sure if VMM will work on a 118. It may also be a bit ‘light’, depending on other services you have running on the Syno

Unfortunately that’s not supported either.

Hi,

Unfortunately the DS118 is a budget model that only has 1GB memory (non-expandable) and does not support the btrfs file system. It therefore lacks the necessary resources to run things like Docker and VMM, for Docker compatibility see below:

You can try SynoCommunity package: https://synocommunity.com/package/homeassistant/
It is not up-to-date, but might work in your case.
