Installed HassOS but can't run it on a Raspberry Pi 4

I have a fresh raspberry OS x64 installed and would like to install Home Assistant OS on it as well.
I followed the directions on the HA install guide up to the part where it says to reboot RPi after flashing it. However, I’m using a USB stick not a SD card. The RPi SD card is inserted while I insert the USB drive and reboot.

The USB stick is partly formatted for EXT4, and the portion in the install guide which requires to flash it with the HassOS is flashed in a partition that’s FAT32 on a Mac.

After inserting the USB stick in the RPi and rebooting, I open the chromium browser and type a variation of these addresses to onboard but none of them work:

http: //homeassistant.local:8123
https: //homeassistant.local:8123
http: //192.168.50.201:8123 (the LAN ip address of my RPi)
https: //192.168.50.201:8123

What am I doing wrong here?

The problem is, you can’t run raspberry pi OS And HassOS at the same time. It’s one or the other. When it says flash the [SD card or USB], that will be your primary boot drive.

In other words, it doesn’t matter if you have raspberry pi OS installed already, since HassOS acts like what it sounds like, an OS.

If you want to keep raspberry pi OS, you would probably want to do a HA supervised install.
