Installed VMDK version in VMWare, runs but fails to download docker image from GitHub

Have HAOS installed and starting up in a VMWare Workstation VM using the prebuilt vmdk downloaded from homeassistant.io. It sees network, I can browse to http://homeassistant:8123 but once it gets to a certain point in the “Preparing Home Assistant” process, it will just loop through the following continuously. Not sure if Github is having an issue, or maybe the path HA wants is obsolete or something. Only item I found searching for the error was to make sure my network allows NTP, and I can access ntp.org with NetTime so I believe it does. Anyone know what my issue is?
